CHIRP DJ writesCHIRP Radio Profiles: Meet Bobby Evers

CHIRP Radio is an all-volunteer effort. We would like to introduce you to some of the people who make the station what it is!

Bobby Evers was born and raised in a small town in northern Iowa where he made mixtapes and wrote bad poetry. He received his BA at the University of Iowa in English and Creative Writing and moved to Chicago in the Fall of 2007. That was the year of the unbearably hot Chicago Marathon. After moving away from Logan Square in the summer of 2008, he lived in Wicker Park and Little Village’s Pilsen neighborhood. This week marks his return to Logan Square to be closer to his beloved Blue Line.

Bobby began DJing for CHIRPRadio at its inception in January of 2010 and had been writing music reviews (200+) and tabling at events since April 2009. He has always maintained his Saturday afternoon timeslot which boasts a delightful combination of twee, alt-country, oldies, and the occasional hip-hop track.

In addition to DJing for CHIRPRadio, he is also a writer and contributer to the DIY literary magazine, Two With Water which is slated to release its second issue this fall. Bobby can be seen at their semi-regular Rx Reading Series at Beauty Bar alongside other Curbside Splendor contributors. When not doing that, he is consuming hours and hours of media in the form of TV-on-DVD, Netflix Watch Instantly, and illegally streaming various websites (your Megavideo, your TV Duck, or your Sidereel). He also reads sometimes.
